Effective date: 22 July 2026
Before you brew
Every tea product page includes an Ingredients section and an Allergen Information section. Please read both before ordering and check the delivered label again before use, particularly if you have an allergy or intolerance.
Regulated allergens used as ingredients are identified and emphasised in the ingredients information.
A "may contain" statement is used only where a genuine cross-contact risk has been identified and cannot reasonably be removed.
Recipes and suppliers can change. The information shown for the product you purchase and the delivered label should be checked each time.
Contact us before ordering if you need more ingredient or allergen detail.
If the delivered information differs from the product page, do not consume the tea until we have checked it.
Allergen questions: info@boteane.co or 0333 339 9947 from the UK, +44 333 339 9947 internationally.
Full food information policy
1. Product-level information
The legally relevant ingredient and allergen information for each tea is provided in the product's Ingredients and Allergen Information sections before purchase and on or with the food at delivery as required. This general Policy does not replace product-specific information.
2. The 14 regulated allergens
Where present as ingredients, the regulated allergens must be declared and emphasised in accordance with applicable food-information law. They include cereals containing gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, peanuts, soybeans, milk, tree nuts, celery, mustard, sesame, sulphur dioxide or sulphites above the applicable threshold, lupin and molluscs.
3. Distance selling
Allergen information must be available before the online purchase is completed and again when the food is delivered. Boteane maintains the product information, labels, packing processes and customer-service information needed to provide both stages consistently.
4. Precautionary allergen labelling
Statements such as "may contain" or shared-facility warnings are used only where a documented risk assessment identifies a real cross-contact risk that cannot reasonably be controlled. A blanket warning is not a substitute for accurate supplier information, segregation, cleaning and process controls.
5. Recipe and supplier changes
Ingredients, natural flavourings and supplier specifications may change. We will update the product information before selling the changed product and ensure the delivered label is accurate. Customers with allergies should check information on every purchase and not rely solely on a previous order.
6. Suitability statements
Terms such as vegan, vegetarian, caffeine-free, gluten-free or free from a named allergen are used only where Boteane has adequate evidence and the product satisfies the legal or commonly understood conditions for that statement. A product without a particular ingredient is not automatically guaranteed free from cross-contact.
7. Natural ingredients and preparation
Tea and botanicals are natural agricultural ingredients. Follow the quantity, temperature, brewing, storage and best-before information supplied with the product. Brewing guidance is intended to help quality and enjoyment and does not replace allergen or safety information.
8. Traceability, incidents and recalls
We retain supplier and batch or lot information and may contact customers about a withdrawal, recall or safety notice. If you believe a tea caused an allergic reaction, contamination or other safety incident, stop using it, retain the packet and batch code where safe to do so, seek appropriate medical assistance where needed and contact us promptly.
9. International orders
Destination countries may require different ingredient, allergen, language or import information. We will sell food to an enabled destination only where we have a reasonable basis to do so. Mandatory local food-information rights remain.
