Shopping with Boteane
We want the practical part to feel as considered as the tea. Product descriptions, ingredients, sizes, prices and delivery choices are shown before you order. Your order is accepted when we send a dispatch confirmation, unless we tell you otherwise earlier.
Prices are shown in GBP. Boteane LTD is not currently VAT registered, so VAT is not separately charged. Delivery and any unavoidable charges are shown before payment.
Tea is packed and supplied in the size selected. Natural ingredients can vary slightly in colour, shape and appearance from harvest to harvest.
Personalised and made-to-order products are created from the details you submit. Please check names and messages carefully before paying.
You must be at least 18, or have permission from a parent or guardian, to place an order.
Your statutory consumer rights are always protected.

Full legal terms
1. Who we are
Boteane is operated by Boteane LTD, company number 13218679, whose registered office and service address is 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, United Kingdom, WC2H 9JQ. Boteane LTD is not currently VAT registered. In these Terms, "Boteane", "we", "us" and "our" refer to Boteane LTD.
2. Scope of these Terms
These Terms apply when a consumer purchases tea, tisane, matcha, botanicals, teaware, gift cards, gift wrapping, personalised blends or other retail goods directly from Boteane.co. Separate terms apply to the Discovery Subscription, gift cards, promotions and voluntary flavour promises. If there is a conflict, the more specific terms apply to that part of the purchase.
These Terms are for consumer purchases. Corporate, wholesale and other business orders may be subject to separate written terms.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must have legal capacity to enter into a contract. If you are under 18, an adult must place the order or authorise it. You are responsible for keeping account credentials secure and for information submitted through your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been used without permission.
4. Product information
We take reasonable care to describe and display products accurately. Images are illustrative and colours may vary between screens. Tea and botanical ingredients are agricultural products, so leaf size, colour and visual appearance may vary naturally without affecting conformity.
Ingredients, allergens, caffeine information, quantity, care instructions and other material information shown on the relevant product page form part of the contract. Where information on the delivered label differs materially from the information shown before purchase, contact us before consuming or using the product.
5. Personalised and bespoke products
For products made or personalised to your specification, including bespoke blends created from your selections, custom names and personalised gift messages, you are responsible for checking spelling and choices before payment. We may refuse wording that is unlawful, abusive, infringes another person's rights or cannot reasonably be produced. Clearly personalised or custom-made goods do not carry the ordinary change-of-mind cancellation right. Your rights remain protected if the product is faulty, unsafe, incorrect or not as described.
6. Prices and charges
The total price payable and all unavoidable charges known to us are shown before you place the order. Boteane LTD is not currently VAT registered. Delivery charges are shown separately where they vary by destination or service. Optional extras, such as gift wrapping, are charged only when you actively select them.
If a clear pricing error occurs and could reasonably have been recognised as an error, we may contact you to confirm whether you wish to proceed at the correct price or cancel the affected item for a full refund. We will not dispatch at a higher price without your agreement.
7. Placing an order and contract formation
The checkout lets you review and correct information before paying. Placing an order is an offer to buy. An automated acknowledgement confirms receipt but does not necessarily mean the order has been accepted. The contract is formed when we send a dispatch confirmation, or when we expressly confirm acceptance if no dispatch is required.
We may decline an order before acceptance for reasons such as lack of stock, an obvious pricing or description error, payment failure, delivery restrictions, suspected fraud, sanctions compliance or inability to meet a requested personalisation. Any payment already taken for a declined order will be returned.
8. Payment
Payment methods available at checkout are processed by our payment service providers. You confirm that you are authorised to use the selected payment method. We do not normally receive or retain complete payment-card details. Payment may be authorised when the order is placed and captured in accordance with the checkout information.
9. Availability and substitutions
All products are subject to availability. We will not substitute an item in a one-off order without your agreement. For a curated subscription, the teas supplied may vary in accordance with the Discovery Subscription Terms. If an accepted one-off order cannot be fulfilled, we will offer an appropriate alternative or refund the unavailable item.
10. Delivery, risk and ownership
Delivery is governed by the Delivery and International Shipping Policy. Risk of loss or damage passes to you when the goods are delivered into your physical possession, or to a person you identify to receive them. Ownership passes when we have received full payment and delivery has occurred, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
11. Your right to cancel and return
Your cancellation, return and refund rights are explained in the Returns, Cancellations and Refunds Policy. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
12. Faulty, unsafe, damaged or incorrect goods
Goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for any purpose made known to us and as described. Contact us promptly if a product is faulty, unsafe, damaged, contaminated, incorrect, short-delivered or materially misdescribed. We will deal with the issue under applicable consumer law and will not replace a legally required monetary refund with account credit unless you freely choose that option and the law allows it.
13. Voluntary promises and promotions
Any Boteane flavour promise, concierge service, discount or promotional guarantee is an additional voluntary benefit governed by its published terms. It does not replace statutory rights or remedies.
14. Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, business losses arising from a consumer purchase, or loss caused by information or actions outside our reasonable control, except where the law says otherwise.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, defective products where liability cannot be excluded, breach of statutory rights, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
15. Events outside reasonable control
We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, transport disruption, customs action, industrial disputes, fire, flood, epidemic, cyber incident or failure of essential networks. We will take reasonable steps to reduce the effect and will contact you where the impact is material. Your legal rights, including rights arising from serious delivery delay, remain unaffected.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms for future purchases to reflect changes in law, our services or business operations. The version supplied or made available when your order is placed applies to that order. We will not retrospectively reduce rights already acquired.
17. Governing law and courts
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, subject to mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. Consumers in Scotland or Northern Ireland may bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom where they live. International customers retain any mandatory local rights and access to local courts that cannot lawfully be removed.
