If a tea misses the mark, we will credit it back.
Every Boteane Discovery box is chosen to help you meet something new. If one tea is not to your taste, tell us within 14 days of delivery, and we will credit it back to your Boteane account. You can use the promise up to 3 times within any 12-month period.

Yes, skip any month on your account and pick your subscription back up straight away whenever you’re ready.
What teas are in the Boteane tea subscription box?
Five loose-leaf teas each month: whole leaf, whole fruit, whole flowers, real herbs and spices. Never just one brand’s shelf.
Does the tea subscription come with a free gift?

Can I choose my own teas, or change my preferences later?

What happens if I don’t like a tea in my box?
Tell us, and we’ll put it right next time, no argument.
How do I brew loose-leaf tea?
Each tea has its own steep time and temperature on its product page and packet, since it varies leaf to leaf. As a general rule: a full teaspoon in freshly boiled water, three to five minutes, then strain.
How long does the subscription delivery take in the UK?
Your first box ships within 1 to 3 working days, then takes 3 to 5 days in the post, so allow about a week in total. After that, a new box arrives every month.
Is UK delivery free on the tea subscription?
Yes. UK delivery is free on every subscription box, every month, nothing extra at checkout.
Is Boteane’s tea subscription vegan and available with caffeine-free options?
Yes, every box is vegan, and Caffeine-Free is one of the four taste options if you’d rather skip the caffeine.
How many cups of tea do you get in a subscription box?
Around 75 cups a box, from five teas, re-steeped, where you like to double that. That’s about 27p a cup.
What does the Discovery Flavour Promise cover?
It covers one opened tea from an eligible paid Discovery Subscription box, where the tea is safe, correctly supplied and not faulty, but the flavour is simply not to your taste.
How long do I have to claim?
Contact us within 14 calendar days of the box being delivered.
What will I receive?
Once we approve your claim, we’ll add Boteane account credit to your account. It’s not a cash refund under this voluntary promise.
How often can I use the Discovery Flavour Promise?
You can receive up to three approved flavour credits on the same subscription account in any rolling 12 months. Each claim must relate to a different eligible paid box, and only one tea from each box can be claimed.
Do I need to send the tea back?
Usually not. We might ask to see the rest of the tea, or for more evidence, if we need to check quality, safety or possible misuse. We’ll always tell you what we need. You won’t be asked to send anything back without instructions first.
What evidence is needed?
Your order number, the tea name, a short explanation and clear photographs of the opened packet and its batch or lot code. We’ll only ask for extra information if we genuinely need it to review your claim.
What if my tea is damaged, unsafe, incorrect or not as described?
That’s not a flavour preference claim. Contact us promptly so we can handle it under the ordinary returns process and your statutory consumer rights. Neither the 7-day First Match limit nor the 14-day Discovery limit reduces those rights.
Does a flavour claim cancel my subscription?
No. A claim doesn’t cancel, pause or skip your subscription. Manage that separately through your account or by contacting us. This doesn’t affect any legal cancellation right.
Are free gifts and samples covered?
No. Free gifts, complimentary samples and promotional extras supplied without separate payment are not covered.
Can a gift recipient claim?
Yes. A named gift recipient can claim where we can verify the eligible paid order and they provide the information we reasonably ask for.
